Evolve fest reports?
Was anyone there? Setlist? Tapers? Fill us in...
i spied the canadian board
Surprise Me Mr. Davis: A bit of a stumble to start the show; Nathan Moore breaks a string. Marc helps him change it between songs. Brad's guitar stops working- he is given another guitar. Then, Nathan breaks another string. Somewhat flustered, he is given another guitar. The boys then settle in (although there was a beautiful Poor Boy 2nd song in before the sh!t happened) and rip out my favourite song of the whole weekend- I Hate Love. I don't know many of their songs, but Rubber Ball was in there, and I was mesmerized as usual by the world class musicaianship. Awesome.
Kimock and SMMD fortunately for me, and for my crew were enough to make the entire event worth it.

SMMD 8.27.05
Like it was noted above, there were some technical difficulties to start the set, but everyone was on top of the world so it didn't matter at all- and on stage it seemed to be all good humor too.
There is one pic up here:

Here is my best shot at the setlist:
1. (the other song title about heaven)
2. Poor Boy
3. Everything Must Go
4. Tin Can Coffee Cup
5. Rubber Ball
6. Ambrosia Drunk?
7. I Hate Love
8. How Would I Know
9. Not Till I'm Done Living?
10. As Long As There is One of Us Standing?
11. Summer of My Fall
e:
12. To Heaven Before I Die
Damn that was a fun show! Some nice solos from Brad, Andrew was just chugging through most of the set, and I didn't realize till I saw them live how much Marc is doing in some of those songs. The sound system at this event was top notch and this set was a treat to hear ripping through it.
A great end to a fantastic summer of music on the East Coast. For those of us that attended both Shoreline and Evolve we actually got to see Brad play in four different lineups (lncluding the solo set) in about 6 weeks time! A strange twist to that, is not one of those lineups was The Slip........

What is brad playing in that pic? Looks like an Ibanez artist. Must be new or borrowed.
As far as the setlist (thanks for getting one)...
I'm half drunk on margarita's right now but "Not Till I'm Done Living" is a line from "I want to get to heaven before I die" isn't it? You have both listed. Any idea? Any tapers?

And you're next Andre!
I was lucky enough to spend at least an hour talking with Nathan and Brad after their set. Its always a bit nervewracking talking to your heroes, but both of these guys made me feel at ease and welcome.
SMMD is now my second favorite band out there. For anyone who has somehow missed out on the Band, and is enjoying SMMD- I highly recommend checking out any of the the material of this highly underrated group (they could name them #1 for all time, and I feel The Band would still be getting slighted).

Yes....
The same guy that taped Shoreline (those cds should be there any day) also taped the set.
He also got some tasty new AKG's before the weekend, so I'm hoping for good things.
I'll let you know when I get my hands on it.........
